Testing & Design
The testing capabilities performed at Protyp
Material and Product Testing
Since 2009, Protyp has operated its own computer-controlled tensile and compression testing machine. This allows us to perform tests independently, without reliance on external suppliers.
This equipment enables us to determine accurate stress-strain curves, which form the basis for precise non-linear calculations of plastic products. Furthermore, products can be tested to failure following trial molding runs. Understanding a product’s failure behavior is crucial for predicting its suitability for the intended application. In 2016, a Charpy Notched impact tester was also added to our testing facilities.

Charpy Impact Testing
Our testing facility includes a Charpy Notched impact tester. This allows us to rigorously evaluate the toughness and impact resistance of materials under sudden loading conditions.

Injection Molding of Test Specimens
We produce test specimens—both with and without weld lines—on our in-house injection molding machines. This allows us to internally test the influence of various process settings on tensile strength. We also evaluate the mechanical impact of using recycled materials and specialized additives.

Aging & Chemical Resistance Tests
We perform in-house aging tests by submerging pre-stressed (pre-bent) tensile bars in various liquids. This allows us to analyze long-term chemical resistance and material degradation under stress.

Aluminum Prototype Molds for Concept Testing
We manufacture small aluminum molds in-house for rapid feasibility studies using the specified production material. This enables the production of small pilot series to validate product functionality in the real world before investing in final steel production molds.
